FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD: THE LOCALS FOOD MARKET, 87A MACLEAY STREET POTTS POINT
Local resident Talia Smith is unique. Her new shop is unique and her food concept is also unique.
It is based on a local market idea which supplies fruit, meats and other items direct from their source to customers.
She has a close working relationship with growers and suppliers in our Sydney region basin, some of which produce organic items, and deals with farmers herself, part of the farm-to-fork ethos.
It’s a one-stop- shop for everyday essentials to elevate any plate with a wall of local small batch artisan products from Sydney, NSW and Victoria made by chefs, restaurants and cafes using their favourite seasonal ingredients. There’s a selection of peak season Sydney-grown produce including two fridges full of good things.
She admits she is a foodie. Unsurprising, considering she first started on the roof of her mother’s apartment nine years ago in nearby Oak Lane, Potts Point.
Her specialities include pork, chicken and beef. Additional items include peach and lime jam, teas, beer nuts, tom tom tomato sauce, sea salt, honey and granola.
“The reaction from locals has been excellent,” she says.
And for Christmas she is preparing hampers with recipes to assist her loyal customer base.
