MR MINTY’S, POTTS POINT
‘Sculpture is an art form that makes us think,” Sir Antony Gormley, one of the world’s leading experts says.
It is a dictum which Jason Minty, Managing Director of Becker and Minty, agrees with.
His gallery at 12 Macleay Street in the heritage-listed Macleay-Regis building is a world of fine art and an Aladdin’s cave of sculpture which will enhance and elevate the design of any home.
It is complementary to Becker and Minty’s other highly successful boutique of object d’art in Manning Street nearby in Potts Point, adjacent to the Ikon building.
The Macleay-Regis gallery is a jewel box incorporating art and sculpture from selected artists including Carol Crawford, Dan Schneiger, Levi Hanken and Jan Vogelpohl.
Art and sculpture are about bigger things and are moments in time. ‘We love the design of this heritage building, its high-ceiling interiors and the panoramic windows”, says Jason. “Customers have commented very favourably too as they do more window shopping.”
“Sculpture is a dance with materiality just as much contemporary architecture is also, in effect, sculpture,“ says Sir Antony.
“Whereas painting is dependent on material, sculpture does not. It exists in our own geological time and is an encounter elicits experiences that can last in perpetuity creating conversations, thoughts and feelings with viewers.”
Both art and sculpture are about bigger things in time and moments in time.
