Spit Roast is unique in Potts Point. It is the only take-away food outlet also offering eat-in as well as home delivery services.

Their cooking is tantalizingly positioned right under the sensitive nostrils of locals as they rush home on cold winters’ nights at 95 Macleay Street.  Freshly cooked roasts and healthy salads and vegetables beckon, no, sorry – beg – to be “adopted”. They put roast pork (with crackling) on your fork and roast beef, chicken, lamb, southern fried chicken,  ever- popular beef burgers, schnitzels and salmon on your plate or provide an “instant  friends’ feast”. Vegetables include potatoes done four ways, baked Italian or healthy steamed vegetables, cauliflower cheese and pumpkin. Salads include the ultra-popular red cabbage and walnut salad, and desserts made to a heritage recipe for the still-enticing sherry trifle or a rich chocolate mousse (with cherry on top).

Your mum would be proud when you explain you’re enjoying so many roasts with veggies each week – no need to mention who actually cooked them!

Alan Heitner, proprietor for five years, notes: “We’re in a fantastic street location. We’re a taste of home to take home: no dishes, no worries. And we offer excellent food and great value. No-one leaves hungry.”

Who’s to argue, they are serving up to 300 Potts Pointians a day. Large rotisseries slow-roast up to 100 chickens a day to perfection on site, and bake fresh rolls cooked in store by dedicated friendly staff.

Alan comes from a strong customer service background in video stores and fashion. With thirty years’ retail experience, he wisely observes that a good small business has three key criteria: they know the product, know the customers, and are super friendly.

And his staff certainly “go the extra mile” to give exceptional service. It’s their very raison d’être.

Suraj, Store Manager, loves the area. He says, “We meet different people every day, make friends, know their special requests, share jokes, and discuss sport etc (but not politics!)”
